NAME: Gabriela Maria de Luisa Rodriguez
ALIAS: To almost everyone, especially her gang mates, she goes simply by “Chica.”

LANGUAGES SPOKEN: Spanish (first language; fluent), English (second language; near fluent)

SPECIAL SKILLS:
Sharpshooting: Chica can comfortably shoot down targets from a distance; this range increases exponentially when given a sniper’s scope. (Her general accuracy also applies to bows, but she is less-rehearsed with these and would prefer a gun.)

Mixed Martial Arts: Chica has a very rough, on-the-fly brawling style that mostly mimics that of MMA (namely kickboxing, muay thai, and submission wrestling). A major part of this “training” is her expertise in chokeholds, which allows her to quietly subdue people who may be in her way like guards or other bystanding witnesses.

Natural Athleticism: Chica has a sturdy build with well-earned muscle. Her physical attacks carry a lot of power and she boasts impressive agility in the field.

Streetwise: Chica knows the dynamics of the streets like the back of her hand and is very familiar with the workings of gang life and the illicit substance trades.

Lockpicking: So long as she has a tool to jimmy tumblers with (which can be as rudimentary as a bobby pin or a scrap of wire), Chica can pick almost any basic lock. (She’s also cracked a few safes in her time, but it isn’t her strong suit.) Lockpicking is much quicker and easier, though, if she has a proper kit to aid her.

FLAWS:
Tropical Acclimation: Chica cannot stand cold weather; she’s only recently experienced snow for the first time. She has a black jacket that can be worn in colder temperatures, but it affects her ability to maneuver, so she prefers to go without. Cold weather makes her incredibly uncomfortable, and she is extremely clumsy around snow and ice.

Language Barrier: English is not Chica’s first language; this may cause her to misunderstand things from time to time, especially if the other person is speaking quickly, using American slang terms, and/or has a thick accent. (In addition, Chica herself has a very heavy Latin American accent, so those without familiarity with it may have an equal chance of misunderstanding her.)

Uneducated: Chica has not completed secondary school (past the eighth grade). While not a reflection of her streetwise and intelligence, her lack of more-advanced cultural, mathematical, and scientific studies is evident.

Temperamental: While Chica can keep her cool on the job, she has a short-fuse that becomes especially prominent during a direct confrontation. (She doesn’t take to personal attacks very well.) Chica is the type who likes to punch your teeth out first and ask questions never.

Technical Misplacement: Despite The Game's interest in her, Chica is NOT a formal assassin. (An experienced street-soldier with enough blood on her hands, sure, but the official title of "asesino" isn't on her calling card.) While she'll find a way to get the job done, she may not be as familiar with the technical aspects of the job as someone more experienced would be.

PERSONALITY: Chica is a pretty aloof girl. She knows better than to get involved with anyone or anything, since they could very well not be there the next day. This air of disinterest spreads to most parts of her life, since her years on the streets and in the cartel have kept her away from developing real passions in life. (She isn’t above finding her own ways to have fun, though. Her current favorite pastime is drinking and playing poker with the boys from the cartel, at least when she’s not eating ice cream and binge-watching American crime dramas.) That being said, she’s very attached to her pride and will not tolerate people attacking it or her on a personal front. She can be temperamental when people challenge her, and holds bitter grudges against people who have wronged or taken advantage of her (primarily her boss, the cartel lord Armero). Perhaps surprisingly, Chica takes no pleasure in her “lifestyle.” If given the choice to give it all up and live a quiet, comfortable life elsewhere, she would take it in a heartbeat. (She hopes that by playing “The Game,” she will eventually find the means to do so.) 

BACKGROUND INFO: Born and raised in the streets of Hermosillo, Gabriela grew up doing what she needed to get by. What started as small-time crime to keep food in her belly eventually led her right into the jaws of El Escoposo, an up-and-coming cartel. She was personally plucked from the ghetto by the group’s head honcho, Armando “Armero” Guiterrez. (Armero is also responsible for her nickname; after several requests of “oy, chica, como se llama?” were met with silence, he simply continued calling her “Chica.”) Stuck between an offer she couldn’t refuse (and a gun to her head if she did), the newly-dubbed Chica gave up her life outside of Hermosillo and began her life of street-soldier training in the cartel.  Her natural athleticism helped her handle the grueling work of street fights and hauling blow, while her special spot as “Papa’s compañito” kept her out of the dog-eat-dog ranks.

Because OCTs are bad decisions and I'm a bad decision-maker, time to sign up for another one. Blackrabbit's super-cool and this premise sounded SUPER-cool and I think Chica turned out super-cool, so yeah, it has to be done, I have to play.

I'll be continuously updating this reference as the competition goes on, so keep an eye out! (Unless something goes horribly wrong and my little Latina fury dies in the first round. In that case, expect no updates. Except for maybe the stains of my tears.)
